Exceeded my expectations
I already knew that the 1961 version was a charming classic, but I hadn't seen the Parent Trap II. It was alright, but I don't think it's destined to be a classic. After watching both of them, I was satisfied with my purchase. But then I got to the special features disc, and was pleasantly surprised: interviews with a much-older Hayley Mills, explanations of the special effects they used in 1961, a few clips of "Uncle Walt" (Disney himself), Tommy Sands and Annette Funicello singing the title song, interviews with the female "double" used in a few scenes, etc.
I'm glad I have the whole package in my collection.
Original Parent Trap
I love this movie. I saw when I was about 7 yrs old and I watched it a lot. Perfect movie for kids, very funny. I do not like Lindsey Lohan, and would not buy the version she played in even before her wild behavior. This one is much better.
Parent Trap - Hayley Mills
My grandson (age 3 1/2) loves the Lindsay Lohan version of Parent Trap and was watching it over and over again. I decided to buy him the version that I grew up with (Hayley Mills). At first he wasn't sure about it because it was different and the girls had a British accent, but now he absolutely loves this version and it kept him happy recently on a very long car ride!!
The Parent Trap Double DVD Set
I was a little disappointed at first whenever I got the dvd in the mail- I was mistakenly expecting it to be both the first version of the movie, and the one with Lindsay Lohan that came out in the late 90's. It is in fact the first version and the t.v. sequel that features Hayley Mills as a grown-up,single mom- her daughter wants to see her remarried, etc... I am happy that I bought the DVD, though. It's so great to have the original movie-it's always been a favorite of mine, since I was really young. And, the sequel is pretty cute, so it is okay that I made my mistake about what I was buying!
the good old days
I feel young again! Hayley Mills - such a sweet girl! you are going to enjoy this film.
